How often should I cut my lawn?
- Most mature lawns that are weed free can be cut every two to four weeks. Let's face it though, most lawns aren't weed free. It is recommended to cut it weekly to maintain the fresh look we all want! While currently we don't offer pesticide/herbicide services, it is something we will be working towards in the future!
My yard just got fresh sod. How long should I wait until I cut it?
- Fresh sod shouldn't be cut for at least two weeks. The roots need time to grow and anchor to the ground. While you wait for it to take, be sure to follow the watering guidelines for your particular grass, being careful to not over water it, as that can cause dead spots too! When it's time for a trim, make sure you let us know it is new grass so we can take extra care! After your first cut, have it trimmed weekly for the first few services, then you can cut back to every other week.
Do you offer other services other than lawn care?
- At this time, we offer lawn maintenance and light bed maintenance. As we grow, our services will grow! We look to offer landscaping, spring prep, winter prep, sod, and weed care in the future, as well as other services.
When can I stop mowing my lawn?
- The simple answer is when it stops growing. Some blades will continue to grow, all the way up to when the temperature drops to below 40. Ask your lawn care specialist when you should stop for your particular species.
When do I start cutting my lawn?
- When you see new growth, it's time to start cutting your lawn! There are things you can do to help keep your lawn happy and healthy at the beginning of the season. Ask your lawn care specialist about spring prep and when you should schedule it.
Why are there brown spots after my lawn is cut?
- There are companies out there that will tell you that your lawn is infested with parasites and that is what causes brown spots on your lawn. Most of the time, brown spots come from a thick, healthy thatch layer, that is just a little longer in that spot. To avoid brown spots, your lawn care specialist will cut at a higher deck height. Every lawn is unique, so a good inspection is necessary. We will always do our best to cut just above the thatch layer.
What do you do with the Grass clippings?
- We leave clippings where they are! Clippings are a great fertilizer, helping to feed your lawn with essential nutrients. If it's been a while since your lawn had a trim, we may bag it, then leave the clippings the next time. If we need to bag your clippings, there may be additional charges needed. Ask your lawn care specialist if you qualify for a bag free cut!
